Step 4. Estimating manure composition

This worksheet estimates the amount of nutrients in manure and calculates the nutrient needs of crop(s).

Example Information:

1. Manure composition lb/ton raw waste (manure analysis not available so book value estimates are used - see table). NOTE: It is most accurate to have manure composition determined by lab analysis.

  • Total N = 21 lb/ton
  • Ammonium N = 8 lb/ton
  • Nitrate N -----
  • P2O5 = 18 lb/ton
  • K2O = 26 lb/ton

2. Soil information

  • Texture = Clay Loam
  • Soil pH = 8.1 to 8.2
  • Available P -----
  • Available K -----

3. Nutrient needs of crop
