Dennis Cash is Extension Forage Crop Specialist with the Animal & Range Sciences Department at Montana State University. Dennis grew up on an irrigated farm in eastern New Mexico, and studied Crop Science at New Mexico State University where he completed his B.S. (1977) and M.S. (1979) degrees. He received his PhD in Crop and Soil Science at Montana State University in 1983. For 10 years, he was employed in the seed industry where he was responsible for forage variety development and evaluation in the northeastern and southwestern US.

In 1992, Dr. Cash returned to MSU as Extension Crop Specialist for forage and specialty crops. Currently, Dennis coordinates the Montana alfalfa variety trials, and he manages several other forage projects. His current emphasis is on hay and pasture management for optimum productivity and quality. Dr. Cash was instrumental in organizing the Montana Hay Growers Association, and he is active with the seed and livestock industries.
